Not all schools request letters of recommendation. Students should ask a high school teacher whom the student feels knows them well (preferably 10,11,12 grade teacher of core content area) if he or she is willing to write a letter of recommendation on their behalf. It is appropriate to allow the recommender a minimum of 2 weeks to write the letter, and be sure to ask the teacher if they will write the letter prior to requesting it electronically. When requesting it electronically, include the recommender's name and email address so they can submit the letter to the appropriate school. Giving them a copy of your Senior Information Sheet may also be helpful. Don't forget to send them a thank you note after!
Many schools accept The Common App, a universal application that students can fill out and send to any participating school (instead of filling out individual applications for each school). Students can create an account and begin to enter information as prompted. Please include your counselor's name and email so they can attach documents as necessary.
If your school does not accept The Common App- Not all schools accept The Common App. If you are applying to a school that does not accept it, please visit the school's website to access the school specific application. Be sure to include your counselor's name and email.

Parchment is the provider that Clawson High School uses to send official transcripts to requesting institutions. To have a transcript sent, please create an account with Parchment using a personal email address so your account continues to be accessible after you leave Clawson. You will then be prompted to assign your issuer (Clawson High School) and your receiver (colleges requesting transcripts). Parchment then sends the counseling office an email requesting the documents.
See the CollegeBoard website to send any applicable SAT, SAT Subject Tests, and AP scores. Students have the option to send four free score reports to schools- the student should include the schools when they take the SAT, or they have a brief window right after the test to log in and include the schools, otherwise score reports cost $12 to be sent (unless student qualifies for a fee waiver). Students should have a CollegeBoard account, where they can follow the prompts to have scores sent directly to colleges. The counselors do not have access to the student accounts. Therefore, if you have trouble logging in or requesting scores, please call the student help hotline at 866-433-7728.
Use the ACT website to have ACT score reports sent to colleges. Similarly, students have the option to have score reports sent for free if they include the colleges on testing day, or within the brief window right after the test is taken. Otherwise, score reports cost $12, and ACT does not offer fee waivers.
